BEAVER COUNTY TIMES -- The highest-ranking official of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, who included St. John the Baptist Church in Ambridge among his parishes, died Sunday in Johnstown. Metropolitan (a title similar to archbishop) Nicholas Smisko, 75, died of cancer, according to the diocese website. He was consecrated as a bishop in 1983 and as metropolitan in 1997. Read more...
