It is with great sadness that we receive the news of our brother in Christ's falling asleep on this day of March 13th, 2011. Along with ourselves, the clergy and devout laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, join in expressing our most profound condolences to the clergy and faithful of the diocese and implore Christ our true God, risen from the dead, 4645

It was with profound sadness that we learned of the blessed repose of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas, Ruling Hierarch of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. In our sadness we are greatly comforted that Metropolitan Nicholas, in life and in death, has been a witness to the love of our Lord Jesus Christ and to Christ’s Holy Resurrection. 4645

We are saddened to learn of the passing of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nicholas of Amissos, ruling hierarch of your diocese. For over fifty hears, His Eminence worked tirelessly to build up the Church of Christ in America through pastoral ministry and monastic struggle, through the encouragement of the young and the formation of clergy, through divine worship and loving service to all creation. 4645
