Statement Regarding Developments in Medicine: COVID-19 Vaccines & Immunizations

Friday, January 22, 2021

Scripture encourages us to respect and protect the body as the temple of God (1 Cor. 6:19). At the same time, it discourages us from either tempting or testing the Lord (Matt. 4:7). And as your spiritual shepherds, we affirm and assure you that it is neither wrong nor sinful to seek medical attention and advice. In fact, we welcome interventions t Read More ...

The Parable of the Unjust Steward

January 14, 2021 Length: 15:10

This week, Elissa Bjeletich and Kristina Wenger talk about the unjust steward. It's bad to be unrighteous, right? Does God always want you to be honest and exact -- or would He rather see some mercy?

SPIRITUAL READING

On the Day of Christ’s Baptism

We shall now say something about the present feast. Many celebrate the feast days and know their designations, but the cause for which they were established they know not. Thus concerning this, that the present feast is called Theophany — everyone knows; but what this is — Theophany, and whether it be one thing or another, they know not. And this is shameful — every year to celebrate the feast day and not know its reason.

First of all therefore, it is necessary to say that there is not one Theophany, but two: the one actual, which already has occurred, and the second in future, which will happen with glory at the end of the world. About this one and about the other you will hear today from Paul, who in conversing with Titus, speaks thus about the present:

SPF50 MINISTRY
Praying together and reading Scripture together are pillars of a Christ- centered Orthodox Christian family. While families may desire to have these activities in their home, they may not be sure how to start. SPF50 intends to help our families bridge that gap. SPF stands for “Scripture, Prayer, Family” and is designed to equip families to read the Scriptures and pray together at home.

This will be an ongoing parish-centered program to help families have quality time with our Lord and with one another, both of which are hard to come by.

A digital copy of SPF50's  Fifth publication is now available on the SPF50 Web Page.

Weekly Message

Each week of the SPF50 Ministry, a brief reflection will be offered to encourage us in our life of faith at home with our families.  These reflections will be based on the Gospel readings assigned for the week.  You can access the weekly reflections below and find archived copies of previous reflections on the SPF50 Web Page.
