John C. Kulis Charitable Foundation Gives Grant to Camp Nazareth

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- The Diocesan Chancery is pleased to announce that Camp Nazareth has received a $10,000 grant from the John C. Kulis Charitable Foundation to help children and families in need cover the cost of attending Camp for 2014. The $10,000 grant is being equally divided between the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh and our Diocese. The $5,000 we have been given translates to roughly 17 additional full scholarships to attend Camp this year. We are grateful to Foundation’s Board of Trustees for the opportunity this will give our Diocese to reach more children through the Camp Nazareth program. Read more...

JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] The registration deadlline for the 2014 Diocesan Altarboy retreat, which will take place at Christ the Saviour Cathedral and Seminary from June 29 - July 2, 2014, is quickly approaching. Diocesan College Student To Travel to St. Nicholas Home For Children

BINGHAMTON, NY -- Maria Korchak, a parishioner of St. Michael's Parish in Binghamton, NY who will begin her Junior year at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, is spending part of her summer in Europe. She is presently enrolled in the university’s “Holocaust in Central Europe,” with seminars in Prague, Krakow, Lublin & Warsaw, and Vilnius . Afterwards, she will participate in the Studium Carpato-Ruthenorum International Summer School for Rusyn from June 15-July 5th. Read more...

Commencement 2014 at Christ the Saviour Seminary

JOHNSTOWN, PA-- Radiant joy was the order of the day as three young men, preparing for the Holy Priesthood, graduated from Christ the Saviour Seminary here on Thursday, May 22. His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa presented the Bachelor of Theology degree to the members of the Class of 2014: Deacon Joseph Birthisel, Daniel Vaskalis and Matthew Dutko.
