CONSTANTINOPLE --The Ecumenical Patriarchate expresses profound sorrow as the world has rushed into a confusing and volatile time of religious protests turning violent, and a grievous lack of consideration for religious differences. When we act disrespectfully and violently in the name of our religious prejudices or our religious beliefs we are undermining our own lives and faith, while creating an atmosphere of anger, hatred, and distrust which unravels the very thread that has woven humanity together since our creation

Today, on the feast of St. Sophia, we pay tribute to our faithful Panis who labor along side of their husbands in serving the faithful of our diocesan parishes.

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- The Diocesan Chancery is saddened to report that Pani Magdaline Salley, the wife of the late Very Rev.Fr. Robert Salley Fell_Asleep-In-The-Lord, suddenly, yesterday, September 12, 2012. Born Oct. 19, 1943, in Johnstown, daughter of Nicholas and Helen (Pazin) Laichak. Pani Magdaline was a truly loving and caring personand a great listener, who always placed the needs of others before herself. This was evident with how her four children were raised and also how she helped St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Clymer, of which her husband, the Very Rev. Robert Salley, was pastor for more than 38 years. She had a true devotion to her faith and trust in God and always believed that things will work out for the best. Faith and family were the true cornerstones of her life.

Joanne served as an inspiration as a counselor to many. JOHNSTOWN, PA -- "Behold, I make all things New” (Revelation 21:5) was the theme of the 68th National Senior and 29th Junior ACRY (American Carpatho Russian Youth) convention which took place on Labor Day Weekend, Fri August 31- Monday September 3, 2012 at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown, PA. This year’s convention was hosted by Christ the Saviour Cathedral of Johnstown, PA ACRY Chapter #20. Those in attendance enjoyed the gracious hospitality of the Johnstown Chapter.

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on August 30, 2012 elected unanimously the Very Reverend Archimandrite Grigorios Tatsis to be the Diocesan Bishop of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA with the title of Bishop of Nyssa. His name was submitted to the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate by His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of America, Locum Tenens of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA, following the submission of his candidacy by the diocesan priests at a Special Assembly convened on July 14, 2012

According to Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Archimandrite Grigorios, Bishop Nominate of our Diocese and the present Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral, has temporarily relocated to North Carolina to wait out the storm.

SPRING HILL, FL -- Father Michael Miklos Dean of our Florida Deanery returned August 8th from his eighth Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) Mission trip in the past seven years. This is his fourth trip to Tanzania with other visits to Cameroon, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya. He and previous teams also made visits to parishes in Chad and Uganda.
