The 2020 CN Summer Experience

Monday, September 21, 2020

You would think that there wasn’t much to do for Camp this past summer. You would think that a 2-week online program wouldn’t require much effort. You would think that bringing kids together in the virtual world is as easy as clicking “the mouse” a couple time. That’s what you would think. You would be VERY wrong!

I am not really sure how to describe what we came to call the 2020 CN Summer Camp Experience, which was the online program the Camp offered our Diocesan children, not as a replacement for being together AT Camp, but as something that would give them what they always need…Christ Himself. It will sound terribly grandiose to you, but I would describe the 2020 CN Summer Camp Experience as a journey; a journey whose purpose was hidden from us until the journey was completely finished. Sunday Before The Elevation of the Precious, Life-Giving Cross

Wednesday, September 16, 2020

Most people probably think of birth and death as totally different and unrelated things. We often associate one with great joy and hope, while the other is simply a sorrowful ending. If we think simply in terms of our experience in this world of corruption, then it makes sense to view them in that way. But if we place them in the context of what our Lord has accomplished through His Cross, then we will understand them very differently. Today we continue to celebrate the Nativity of the Theotokos even as we anticipate the feast of the Elevation of the Cross later this week. Read more...

SPF50 MINISTRY
Praying together and reading Scripture together are pillars of a Christ- centered Orthodox Christian family. While families may desire to have these activities in their home, they may not be sure how to start. SPF50 intends to help our families bridge that gap. SPF stands for “Scripture, Prayer, Family” and is designed to equip families to read the Scriptures and pray together at home.

This will be an ongoing parish-centered program to help families have quality time with our Lord and with one another, both of which are hard to come by.

A digital copy of SPF50's Third publication is now available on the SPF50 Web Page.

Weekly Message

Each week of the SPF50 Ministry, a brief reflection will be offered to encourage us in our life of faith at home with our families.  These reflections will be based on the Gospel readings assigned for the week.  You can access the weekly reflections below and find archived copies of previous reflections on the SPF50 Web Page.
