Fall Youth Encounter To Take Place At Camp Nazareth Nov 9-11, 2018

JOHNSTOWN, PA [National Jr ACRY] - The Annual Fall Youth Encounter will take place from Friday Nov 9 - Sunday Nov 11, 2018 at Camp Nazareth in Mercer, PA. The Encounter is sponsored by the National JR. ACRY and is open to youth ages 8-18. All Diocesan youth are invited and do not have to be a member of the JR. ACRY to attend.

The weekend will be full of fun activities, spiritual activities and time spent in one of the best places on earth along with His Grace Bishop Gregory. Come and bring a friend and experience all your faith and friendships have to offer in our Lord Jesus Christ!

The encounter will begin with arrival and registration on Friday, Nov 9th from 7:00 to 9:00pm and will conclude on Sunday Nov 11th, 2018 at Noon following the celebration of Divine Liturgy at 9:00 am and Brunch. Read more...

JOHNSTOWN, PA - With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that + ANNA EVANISKO, age 100, the mother of Pani Connie. Anna fell-asleep in the Lord on Friday September 14, 2018 after a very brief illness. She would have celebrated her 101st birthday on December 11th.

Anna was the daughter of John and Mary (Semankovich/Felix) Lesko. Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years George Sr. who passed in 2002, brother John Lesko and sisters Mary Muchesko, Margaret Lesko and an infant sister. Survived by son George Sr married to Evelyn (Matchik), daughter Pani Constance married to the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, all of Johnstown, and grandchildren Tamara, married to Deacon Gregory Benc, Watchung, NJ, Sonya Evanisko, Shepherdstown, WV, George Jr, Gainesville, VA, Alexandra Vatuvuk, Stephanie married to James Kobal, Christopher married to Roxanne (Kordish), all of Johnstown, Anastasia and husband Nick Tabb, Shepherdstown, WV. 16 great-grandchildren Victoria Schmidt, Michael Long, Tatianna Evanisko-Long, Jonah Strenski, Alexandra Benc, Anastasia Benc, Kyra Vatavuk, Symeon Kobal, Katarina Vatavuk, Sophia Evanisko, George Evanisko III, Xenia Kobal, Nicholas Benc, Nykos Kobal, Alexander and Asher Tabb. Prayers Requested For Those In The Path Of Hurricane Florence

JOHNSTOWN, PA [Diocesan Chancery] -- The assault of Hurricane Florence on the Carolinas has begun. Thankfully, it appears that our mission parishes in Candler (Asheville) and Murphy, NC are not under evacuation orders at the present time. His Grace Bishop Gregory has asked that the faithful of the Diocese keep the members of our parish communities in North Carolina and the millions of others in the path of the hurricane in constant thought and prayer over this weekend. Registration Opens for OCF’s College Conference 2018 on September 10, 2018

BROOKLINE, MA — Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), the official campus ministry of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops, will open registration for OCF’s College Conference 2018 on September 10, 2018 at 12:00PM EDT.

Each year during Christmas Break, OCF’s College Conference hosts hundreds of college students from across North America for four days of fellowship, education, and prayer. OCF will offer two College Conferences from December 27-30, 2018 – College Conference East at the Antiochian Village (Bolivar, PA) and College Conference Midwest at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center (Kansasville, WI). 2018 Young Adult Fall Retreat At Camp Nazareth

MERCER, PA [Camp Nazareth] -- The American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh Y2AM and the Ukrainian Orthodox League invite Young Adults to come retreat to Camp Nazareth for a weekend with other Orthodox Young Adults from all jurisdictions.

The theme of the weekend retreat is Faith and Politics. The participants will discuss understanding their beliefs, responsibilities, rights and privlileges as Orthodox Christians. Special attention will be given as to how one's Faith plays a role in how we interact with a secular government and understanding how Faith should illumine decision-making in everything, including Politics.

The Keynote Speakers will be Metropolitan-elect Gregory of Nyssa, Fr. Stephen Loposky of the American Carpatho-Russian Diocese and Fr. Nicholas Halkias of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh. Read more...
