Archbishop Job of Chicago Reposes in The Lord
JOHNSTOWN, PA - The Chancery was saddened to learn that His Eminence Archbishop Job (Osacky) of the Midwest Diocese of the Orthodox Church in America, died unexpectedly yesterday, Dec 18, 2009. In addition to his service in the Church in the capacity of Bishop for the past twenty six years, His Eminence was an accomplished iconographer and musicologist. Being of Carpatho-Rusyn descent, His Eminence had a great love for the Carpatho-Rusyn Prostopinje (Plain Chant) transposing many hymns into choral arrangements.
Funeral services will take place beginning Monday Dec 21st throughout the Midwest Diocese of the OCA, with the final Funeral Liturgy and burial to take place on Sat Dec 26, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Church in Black Lick, PA.
