A Tribute to Prof. Andrew Panchisin
Mr. Andrew Panchisin served for thirty-three years as Cantor and Choirmaster at Christ the Savior Cathedral in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Under his direction, the Cathedral Choir enjoyed the reputation of a distinguished choral group. In addition to numerous visits to parishes throughout the expansive American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Diocese of the U.S.A, the Cathedral Choir made guest appearances at many community and civic functions.

“Prof”, as he was affectionately known by his fellow communicants in the Orthodox Faith, was called by the Lord before his dream of recording an album could be fulfilled. In the spirit of achieving this goal in his behalf, and with a deep sense of gratitude and  appreciation to Mr. Andrew Panchisin, the Cathedral Choir under the direction of the Reverend Mr. Michael S. Rosco dedicates this album to his memory. The inspirational renditions of these masterpieces of Orthodox Choral music are presented here in tribute to him who throughout his lifetime gave generously of his talents to the Cathedral Choir, to his Diocese and to the Orthodox Faith.

In their final selection, the Cathedral Choir fervently sings the prayer from the Orthodox liturgy: “In blessed repose, O Lord, grant eternal rest to They departed servant Andrew and make eternal his
memory.”
