Register Now For 2015 Diocesan Lenten Retreats!

JOHNSTOWN, PA - The Diocesan Chancery is pleased to announce the schedule of the annual Diocesan Lenten Retreats, which are sponsored by the ACRY for the upcoming Lenten Season. These retreats are open to everyone and contain special programing for youth and adults of all ages. Bishop Gregory, along with other talented clergy of the Diocese, will offer insightful and inspiring presentations designed to encourage and challenge the faithful to stay focused on the spiritual life as they continue their Lenten Journey to Pascha.

Central Region:  Saturday March 21, 2015 at  St. Nicholas Church, Homestead, PA from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. The Adult Retreat Master, Bishop Gregory, will speak on the topic Confronting and Controlling our Thoughts and Rev. Fr. Matthew Stagon the  youth presenter will lead an interactive discussion on the theme HSpin from Sin and Go to God: The Real Meaning of Repentance.  Registration is required and must be made by March 14, 2015.  Cathy Pawlik is in charge of registration.  Download Registration Form.  (PDF Format)
     
Eastern Region:  Saturday March 28, 2015 at  Holy Ghost Orthodox Church (Phoenixville, PA) from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm (EST).  His Grace, Bishop Gregory will lead the adults in a discussion of the topic: Confronting and Controlling our Thoughts.   Protodeacon Gregory Benc, the Teen Presenter will discuss the topic  What Would Our Lord Do? - Living A Christ-like Life. Rev. Fr. William and Pani Amy George will serve as retreat masters for children ages 6-11 and will speak on the topic: Vice vs Virtue. Western Region:  Saturday March 28, 2014 at St. Alexis Orthodox Church, Battle Ground IN at 12:30 pm (CST). The Deanery Mission and Retreat Theme is Theme:  Take Up Your Cross and Find Christ!

The day's events will include:

  • Youth Cross Walk (Adults are welcome to participate)
  • Moleben to the Holy Cross
  • What does it mean to take up your cross? - Homily & Discussion led by Fr. Samuel Sherry **
  • Lenten Meal
  • Where do we find Christ? - Reflection on Mount Athos by Fr. Jonathan Bannon

**During the homily and reflection, younger children will have the opportunity to create icon cards of the Holy Cross (led by parish church school teachers)**
