Eastern Region Lenten Retreat (4/6/24)
The Diocesan Eastern Regional Lenten Retreat took place, at Holy Ghost Church in Phoenixville, PA on Saturday April 6, 2024.
Hosted by Fr. Peter Paproski and the faithful of Holy Ghost Parish, the retreat participants enjoyed a peaceful day of worship, inspiring lectures and fellowship.
The retreat-masters for the retreat were Fr. William Bennett from St. Nicholas Church in NYC and Fr. Matthew Stagon of Sts Peter and Paul Church in Rockaway, NJ, This year’s retreat drew over 50 participants.
The day began with the registration and continental breakfast at the Parish Social Center and the celebration of Morning Prayers with the recitation of the Jesus Prayer in the Church. Following brief introductory remarks, the retreat masters began their lectures. Fr. William Bennett gave an engaging presentation to the adults in attendance on the topic “Exodus From The World: A Scriptural Life.”
Fr. Matthew Stagon led the youth in attendance in an interactive discussion on the theme "the ABC’s of Orthodoxy”
A lovely Lenten Luncheon was enjoyed by all the participants. Those present had the opportunity to spend time breaking bread together while renewing friendships as well as meeting new people. The parish family of Holy Ghost provided a warm setting with their kind hospitality and delicious food.
The day ended with the celebration of Great Vespers for the Sunday of the Cross and The Annunciation of the Mother of God.
