JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] -- With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that Elizabeth (Betty) Beck, the mother of Pani Carol Paproski, reposed in the Lord on Tuesday December, 31, 2019.
Betty was a very active parishioner of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in New Britain and a member of its Protection of the Theotokos Sisterhood, participating in various church fundraisers throughout the years. Betty enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and being involved in her grandchildrens’ sporting events. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. JOHNSTOWN, PA - [Diocesan Chancery] -- With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that Edward Pehanich, Sr, the father of Very Rev. Edward Pehanich, reposed in the Lord on Monday, December, 30, 2019.
Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late John and Mary Zatkovic Pehanich and was a graduate of Taylor High School Class of 1952. In 1996, he retired from Vermont Clothing, Taylor, where he worked for 31 years. Following his textile career, Ed worked for Price Chopper, Taylor. He was a lifelong and devoted parishioner of St. Georges Orthodox Church, Taylor, where he sang in the choir, was always there to lend a helping hand at baking or other church functions, held numerous positions at the church over the years and was devoted to attending the Moleben services every Wednesday evening. JOHNSTOWN, PA - With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that +Stelian Popescu father of Pani Alexandra Urban, reposed in the Lord on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Romania. The funeral is at the family parish church on Friday, January 3rd.
Diocesan Clergy and faithful are asked to remember the Newly Departed Servant Stelian in prayer. Prayers for safety-in-travel to Romania and back for the Urban Family are also requested. Read more...

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- [Diocesan Chancery] Our Diocese is pleased to announce its third annual Senior Retreat which will take place at Camp Nazareth Retreat and Conference Center in Mercer, PA from May 12-14, 2020. The Retreat will feature keynote addresses by Very Rev. Jonathan Tobias. His Eminence Metropolitan Gregory is inviting all our Diocesan Seniors, ages 55 and over, to join him for 2 days of fellowship, prayer, and rejuvenation. The Theme of the Retreat – “Coping with Change: Reflections on Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” will help our Seniors navigate the many challenges they face all while remaining focused on and committed to our Lord. The event is exactly what it sounds like. Families “camping” together in the Camp cabins and participating in a weekend of services, games, discussions,activities and challenges that are all designed to help families deepen their relationship with God and with one another.
This year’s theme – “God as Head of Family and Household”. Keeping God at the center of

JOHNSTOWN, PA [Diocesan Chancery] -- The Diocesan Chancery is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2020 CrossRoad program.
CrossRoad is a ten-day academic summer institute that prepares high school juniors and seniors to make big life decisions and invites them to connect with the Orthodox Christian theological and spiritual tradition. Participants from all over the country come together to experience daily worship, take theology classes from some of the best professors in the country, visit local parishes, serve their neighbor, tour the city, and even spend a day at the beach.
Historically, CrossRoad has been hosted solely on the campus of Hellenic College Holy Cross. Again,this year, CrossRoad will also take place in Chicago! Read more...

JOHNSTOWN, PA [Diocesan Chancery] -- In an Archpastoral Letter released today, November 1, 2019, His Eminence, Metropolitan Gregory has once again, enthusiastically endorsed a philanthropic initiative of the National American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Youth Organization, its second Annual Stewardship Drive to benefit charitable activities both within and outside of the Diocese.
