Diocesan faithful and friends are cordially invited to watch the dedication and blessing ceremony on facebook or on the diocesan website.

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- The Diocese and an anonymous donor are teaming up to send two Diocesan 11th and/or 12th graders to the Crossroad Institute held each summer at Holy Cross/Hellenic College in Brookline, MA. Crossroad is a ten day academic summer institute that prepares high school juniors and seniors to make big life decisions and connect with the Orthodox Christian theological and spiritual tradition. Hosted on the scenic Hellenic College Holy Cross campus, overlooking the beautiful Boston skyline, participants experience daily worship, visit local parishes, tour Boston, and spend a day at the beach. My experience of College Conference was incredible. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the workshops and speakers. As someone who was raised in the church, I was thrilled to not just get Sunday-school answers to issues, but to have actual honest discussion about the topics. My favourite workshop was on Media Martyrdom, hosted by Steven Christoforou. I thought he did an excellent job of reflecting on media in today’s society and offering some ideas without feeling the need to come to an easy cookie-cutter resolution. I thought the teaching Liturgy was also very well done. His Grace, Bishop Gregory did an excellent job explaining the history and significance of the different parts of the Liturgy in a way that didn’t disrupt the prayerfulness of the service. Read more...
