Archpastoral Statement on the Annual March for Life 2004

Thursday, January 22, 2004

Once again, we are compelled to remember, at this time of year, the tragic reality of abortion. It is now 31 years since that infamous day when the Supreme Court executed the legality of expedient infanticide, for that is really what abortion is. But in the minds of most people today, abortion does not appear so ugly. It has been dressed up and masked. It is regarded as a political issue, a litmus test, a mere survey question. Read more...

Archpastoral Letter for the Nativity 2003

Thursday, December 25, 2003

In the beginning, God created the world, the universe, and all that is therein. From the dust of the earth, He formed the body of the first man Adam and breathed life into him. From Adam's side, He extracted a rib and formed with it the body of his helpmate Eve. Together Adam and Eve lived in peace. harmony, purity, and sinlessness But then Satan caused them to sin, and the first couple fell from grace and were cast out of Paradise due to their pride and disobedience. As we come yet again to the Resurrection of the Lord, to this holiest of seasons, Queen of Feasts, the Feast of Feasts, and the Great Day, the question of the Myrrh-bearing Women challenges all of us: Who will roll the stone away for us from the entrance of the tomb? Read more...
