The American Carpatho-Russian Diocese Welcomes New Staff to the Chancery

JOHNSTOWN, PA – [Diocesan Chancery]  Our Diocese is very pleased to announce that Annie Loposky and Xenia Kobal are joining the Chancery staff. Annie and Xenia are two eager and skilled individuals who will serve us well in the Chancery's endeavor to support and facilitate the work of our Diocese. Annie and Xenia are already a valuable part of Diocesan ministry through the various ways they are providing assistance with Communications, Administration, and the new Seminary Library project. We are thrilled to have them join our Chancery Staff and welcome them to our Diocesan ministry team!

Annie Loposky, with her enthusiasm for education, communication, and service to the Church, recently started working as a Library and Communications Intern at the Diocesan Chancery. A native of Mercer, Pennsylvania, Annie grew up in the Diocese as a member of Saints Cyril and Methodios Church at Camp Nazareth in Mercer, PA and is now a member of Christ the Savior  Cathedral in Johnstown, PA. Annie is the daughter of Fr. Stephen and Pani Daria Loposky of Johnstown and has three older brothers.

Currently a student at George Washington University in Washington, DC, Annie is majoring in English with a minor in STEM Teaching. At GW, Annie is the Treasurer and a member of the GW Women's Club Volleyball team, and is learning the difficult task of juggling academics, leadership, and sport.

Annie's ties to the Diocese are deep; her father, Fr. Stephen, recently accepted the position of Chancellor of our Diocese, and her mother, Pani Daria, also recently took up an administrative and programming role for the Diocese.  For the last 16 years with their family, they had been Director and Assistant Director of Camp Nazareth together. The close link between Diocesan ministry and Annie's family made the offer to work at the Chancery a perfect fit. When the opportunity presented itself, and she could assist with projects related to the new Seminary Library and in the area of Communications, she was excited to accept the position.

As Library and Communications Intern, Annie is helping the Diocese create a large, growing digital library of books from the Seminary’s collections. This will enable seminarians and professors to easily access the books and make future access possible for all the faithful. Along with that, she has begun interviewing Priests and Panis of the Diocese to learn about their histories, ministries, and personal experiences, and to write an ongoing series of articles online and in The Church Messenger to help our faithful better know the clergy families in the Diocese.

It is her hope that, with this internship, Annie will strengthen ties within the Diocese by making the Priests and Panis of the Diocese, and their journeys, more familiar to all. She will return to GW after the summer to complete her degree, and her goal after graduation is to pursue a career as a high school English teacher, continuing to use her STEM teaching knowledge.

When not working at the Chancery, Annie enjoys time with family and friends, being outdoors, hiking, gardening, and going to the gym. She also works as a server at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, PA. Of all the places in the world, Annie Loposky would most like to visit Sicily, but will be just as happy to visit "just about anywhere".

Xenia Kobal is a native of Johnstown Pennsylvania and a parishioner of Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown. She recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor's degree in Communications. As an ambitious student, Xenia graduated high school with her Associate’s degree already completed and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in just two years, graduating at the age of 19.

This summer, Xenia is serving at the Diocesan Chancery as a Communications and Administrative Assistant. In her role, she answers and transfers phone calls, prepares and mails correspondence and packages, and assists the other Chancery Staff, including Metropolitan Gregory, with various administrative responsibilities. During slower periods, she also works to help catalog books into Christ the Saviour Seminary’s new library system in preparation for transfer to the new Seminary Library.

Xenia's connection to the Diocese runs deep. Her grandfather, Very Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Frank Miloro, previously served as Chancellor of the Diocese, and remains the Dean of Christ the Saviour Seminary. She has long felt called to serve the Church in some capacity. After conversations with her grandfather, His Eminence Metropolitan Gregory, and our new Chancellor, Very Reverend Protopresbyter Stephen Loposky, an opportunity at the Chancery emerged, ultimately leading her to her current position.

Looking ahead, Xenia plans to continue serving in her current role throughout the summer while exploring long-term career opportunities. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and staying active through volleyball and pickleball. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Diocese and gain valuable professional experience while contributing to the work of the Church.
