Prayer Before Reading Holy Scripture
O Master Who loves mankind, illuminate our hearts with the pure light of Your divine knowledge and open the eyes of our mind to understand the teachings of Your Gospel. Instill in us also the fear of Your blessed commandments, that we may overcome all carnal desires, entering upon a spiritual life and understanding and acting in all things according to Your holy will. For You are the enlightenment of our souls and bodies, O Christ God, and to You we give glory together with Your eternal Father and Your all-holy, gracious and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen.
Epistle Reading: Hebrews 3:12-16
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart
of unbelief in departing from the living God;
but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today,"
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the
beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,
while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, do not
harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who
came out of Egypt, led by Moses?
Gospel Reading: Mark 1:35-44

And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him.
When they found Him, they said to Him, "Everyone is looking for
But He said to them, "Let us go into the next towns, that I may
preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth."
And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee,
and casting out demons.
Then a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him
and saying to Him, "If You are willing, You can make me clean."
And Jesus, moved with compassion, put out His hand and touched
him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed."
As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and
he was cleansed.
And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once.
And He said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone; but go
your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those
things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
