Epistle Reading: 1 Thessalonians 2:9-14
For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil; for
laboring night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, we
preached to you the gospel of God.
You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and
justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;
as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and
charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,
that you would have a walk worthy of God who calls
you into His own kingdom and glory.
For this reason we also thank God without ceasing,
because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you

stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.'
"So he called every one of his master's debtors to him, and
said to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'
"And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' So he said to him, '
Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'
"Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' So he
said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill,
and write eighty.'
"So the master commended the unjust steward because he had
dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their

"And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous
