Eternal Memory: +Pani Charlotte Conjelko

JOHNSTOWN, PA - With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that Pani Charlotte Conjelko, the wife of Fr. William Conjelko, and the sister of Very Rev. Fr. John Pribish, reposed in the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Funeral  arrangements for Pani Charlotte are as follows:

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Geisen Funeral & Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Trisagion Service to be held at 5:00 PM. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St, Merrillville, IN 46410.

Pennsylvania arrangements will include Visitation on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 9:00 AM (EST) until time of Funeral Service at 11:00AM (EST) at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 141 Hoffman Farm Road in Windber, PA.  Interment to follow in Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Read more...

JOHNSTOWN, PA - With profound sadness the Diocesan Chancery announces that Mary Kowarek, the mother of Pani Kathleen Dutko, reposed in the Lord on Thursday, May 24, 2019.

Born July 17, 1920, Mary was the daughter of John and Susan Bolas. She grew up in the First Ward and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. She worked as an administrative assistant at I.B.M. Endicott until her marriage to 2nd Lt. Francis Kowarek in July 1944. Her greatest joy was tending to her home and caring for her family. Read more...

Registration Opens For 2019 Young Women's Encounter

JOHNSTOWN, PA --  [Diocesan Chancery] -  Registration is now open for the SIXTH Annual Diocesan Young Women's Encounter which will take place from Sunday, June 30th to Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Windber, PA. We encourage our young women, ages 12 to 18 to attend.

This engaging experience will highlight how young women can live our Orthodox Faith and serve the Church with their own unique gifts. The YWE is designed specifically for our young women to provide them an opportunity to spend time in fellowship with each other, have fun, and pray together. This year we will have the blessing to spend some time at the Orthodox Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA. Read more...

Tuesday, January 29th  - 7:00 pm Panachida at Gilbert Funeral Home, 1638 Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA,  with viewing from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Diocese To Host Second Annual Senior Citizen Retreat At Camp Nazareth!

JOHNSTOWN, PA [Diocesan Chancery] -- Our Diocese is pleased to offer its second annual Seniors’ Retreat this year from May 13-16, 2019 at Camp Nazareth in Mercer, PA. Metropolitan Gregory is calling upon all our Seniors, age 65 and older, to join him at the Camp for 3 days of fellowship and prayer in order to be spiritually rejuvenated. The Retreat is being offered with our Seniors specifically in mind.

The Theme of the Retreat is “How’s Your ‘Eyesight’?: Keeping your Focus on God as a Senior”.

The Retreat will help our Seniors navigate the many challenges they face including retirement, transition, health and family all while remaining focused on and committed to our Lord. It will include worship, fellowship, learning, fun, time for reflection and relaxation, and time spent with our Diocesan Hierarch! Read more...
