Parishes Invited to Submit Holy Week-Pascha 2014 Photos

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- Parishes are invited to submit photos for an special on-line photo gallery featuring the celebration of Holy Week and Pascha in our diocese. Every parish community is invited to up to three photos for the photo gallery. Photos from actual services, showing faithful and especially youth in attendance are preferred. Please avoid sending photos of empty Churches. Please send photos to acrodphotos@acrod.org Please put in the body of the e-mail the name of the parish, and a brief captions describing the photos. Please do not send captions as attached document files. The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 28, 2014. Photos will be posted in the order they are received and will be organized by deanery. Deadline Approaching for John C. Kulis Charitable Foundation Scholarships

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- The Diocesan Chancery wishes to remind Diocesan students that the May 1, 2014 deadline for the Kulis Foundation Scholarships is approaching. The Kulis Foundation will be awarding a total of twenty (20) scholarships totaling $100,000.00, for the 2014-2015 school-year. The scholarships will be awarded to ten (10) undergraduate and ten (10) graduate recipients with each scholarship amounting to $5,000.00. The deadline to submit application materials is May 1, 2014. ACRY Ambassador Begins Real Break Romania Journey

JOHNSTOWN [National ACRY] -- Thanks to the generosity of the members of the ACRY, the faithful of the Diocese and the Kulis Foundation, Nate Choma, the ACRY Ambassador, and College Student at Kent State University begins his OCF sponsored Real Break Journey to Romania, today. Nate is part of student team that is travelling to Valea Plopului, a remote village about 70 miles north of Bucharest, Romania. This community takes care of about 220 orphans, handicapped children and children from families with financial hardships. Read more...

NILES, IL --The Chancery has been notified that +MARY BOWE, the mother of Pani Nancy Shuster, fell asleep in the Lord yesterday, March 14, 2014. She was 91 . She was a parishioner of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Niles, IL Visitation will be on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 3-9pm at Russo Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road , Hillside, IL 60162 Panachida will be served at 7:30pm.
