Eternal Memory: Pani Magdaline Salley

JOHNSTOWN, PA --  The Diocesan Chancery is saddened to report that Pani Magdaline Salley, the wife of the late Very Rev.Fr. Robert Salley Fell_Asleep-In-The-Lord, suddenly, yesterday, September 12, 2012.

Born Oct. 19, 1943, in Johnstown, daughter of Nicholas and Helen (Pazin) Laichak. Pani Magdaline was a truly loving and caring person and a great listener, who always placed the needs of others before herself. This was evident with how her four children were raised and also how she helped St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Clymer, of which her husband, the Very Rev. Robert Salley, was pastor for more than 38 years. She had a true devotion to her faith and trust in God and always believed that things will work out for the best. Faith and family were the true cornerstones of her life.

Pani Magdaline upon the repose of her husband, Fr. Robert, returned to Johnstown and continued her service to the Church at Christ the Saviour Cathedral where she served on the Sunday School Teaching Staff. She also was a teacher at St. Sophia Orthodox Christian School of Johnstown.  

Pani Magdaline is survived by children, Mark, and wife, Liz, Madison, Ohio; Stephen, and wife, Lisa, Potomac Falls, Va.; Jason, and wife, Olya, Woodbridge, Va.; and Jennifer, Ashburn, Va.; grandchildren, Josie, Jordan, Jacob and Joshua, all of Madison, Ohio; Benjamin, Zachary and Alexander, all of Potomac Falls, Va.; and Angela and Ethan, both of Woodbridge, Va.; brother, Henry Laichak, and wife, Romaine, Johnstown; and sister, Dolly Jasiukowicz, and husband, Father Alex, Orlando, Fla. Pani was preceded in death by parents; husband, the Very Rev. Robert F. Salley; and brothers, Nick and David, both of Johnstown.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Harry J. Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, with a Panachida at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the Saviour Cathedral Church, Johnstown, followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Christ the Saviour Cathedral Cemetery.
