In Remembrance: The 35th Anniversary of the Repose Of Metropolitan Orestes
JOHNSTOWN PA -- Today, February 17, 2012, marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Falling Asleep in the Lord of His Eminence, Metropolitan Orestes (Chornock), of Thrice Blessed Memory.
Metropolitan Orestes, following the death of his beloved Pani Yolanda (Molchany) was consecrated as the first Bishop of our Diocese in 1938 by His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Benjamin. His Eminence served as ruling bishop of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the U.S.A. from 1938-1977. (Read His Full Biography Here)
