Deadline Approaching For John C. Kulis Charitable Foundation Scholarships

JOHNSTOWN, PA --  The Diocesan Chancery wishes to remind Diocesan students that the May 1, 2014 deadline for the Kulis Foundation Scholarships is approaching. 

The Kulis Foundation will be awarding a total of twenty (20) scholarships totaling $100,000.00, for the 2014-2015 school-year. The scholarships will be awarded to ten (10) undergraduate and ten (10) graduate recipients with each scholarship amounting to $5,000.00. The deadline to submit application materials is May 1, 2014.

The application, which can be downloaded here, must be completed and returned by the May 1st deadline. Applicants must meet the following scholarship requirements to apply: (1) candidates must be pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees and provide a letter of acceptance; (2) candidates must demonstrate true financial need; (3) candidates must be active members of Eastern Orthodox faith, within one of the jurisdictions listed here: Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States and provide a copy of their Baptismal or Chrismation Certificate; (4) candidates must be active members of a parish located in one of the abovementioned jurisdictions; (5) candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States; (6) have a minimum grade point average B, 80, or 3.0; and (7) candidates must not be receiving a full scholarship from any other source or a partial scholarship exceeding fifty percent (50%) of their tuition.
