Prayers Requested For Holy Trinity Cathedral Community In New Orleans

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- [The Diocesan Chancery] Prayers are requested for the faithful of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New Orleans as Hurricane Isaac passes through the Gulf Region.
According to Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Archimandrite Grigorios, Bishop Nominate of our Diocese and the present Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral, has temporarily relocated to North Carolina to wait out the storm.
Holy Trinity Cathedral is located in close proximity to Lake Pontchartrain and is vulnerable to severe flooding. During Hurricane Katrina, the flood waters inside the church had reached three feet from which there was considerable damage.
Holy Trinity Church of New Orleans, established in 1864 is the oldest Orthodox Parish in the lower forty-eight states. Its present church edifice was built in 2001.
O Almighty Lord and Creator of the Universe, we pray that you hear our petition and have mercy on those who are being threatened by Hurricane Isaac, and protect them from catastrophic devastation and loss of life, for You are a Merciful God who loves mankind and to You we send up Glory, with Your Unoriginate Father and Most-Holy, Gracious and Life- Giving Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen.
