2013 Graduation Christ the Saviour Seminary

On Sunday, May 12, 2013, The faculty, students and family members of Christ the Saviour Seminary gathered at the Three Hierarch's Chapel for the Annual Commencement Ceremony.

This year, the Bachelor of Theology Degree was awarded to Seminarian/ Sub-deacon William George.

The Commencement Ceremony began with the celebration of the Moleben Service by Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, Dean of Students.

Following the Moleben, Fr. Miloro gave a small reflection on the transformation and personal growth that necessarily takes place during the three year program of studies at the seminary. He reminded the graduate that the spiritual growth and increased knowledge that he has obtained will serve as the foundation for his future ministry in the Church. He offered his prayers and best wishes that his future ministry in the Church will be fruitful and well-pleasing to God.

Before presenting Subdeacon William with his diploma, His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa, the President and Rector of the Seminary, gave a reflection on his own seminary formation and some of the valuable lessons he learned.

Bishop Gregory, with his characteristic warmth and sense of humor, then congratulated the "valedictorian and class president" of the 2013 class. Speaking directly to the new graduate, His Grace commented that he expects great things from him and especially that he give his unconditional love to the ministry of the Church, the Orthodox Church which is universal, serving our American homeland and the entire world.

Following the Commencement all adjourned to the Seminary Refectory to enjoy the delicious horsdoevres and celebratory dinner in honor of the graduate. Also honored at the meal were all of the mothers present, especially Subdeacon William's Mother, and Amy Harbilas, the graduate's fiancee whose birthday was celebrated on that day.
