Diocesan Youth Apostolate Commission Meeting

PERTH AMBOY, NJ - The members of the Diocesan Apostolate for Youth met today at St. John The Baptist Parish, in Perth Amboy, NJ, where The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Michael Rosco is Pastor. The meeting was moderated by Rev. Fr. Andrew Fetchina, director of the Diocesan Apostolate For Youth (DAY) with the blessing and participation of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas.

At the meeting plans were put in place for the 2007 Diocesan Youth Sojourn which will take place from August 17-19, 2006 at Camp Nazareth. Also discussed was the status of the diocesan youth database which is being compiled from the completed youth census forms which have been received from about 85% of our diocesan parishes.  Other items considered included: the fiftieth anniversary of the Diocesan Altarboy Retreat celebration which will take place in conjunction with the Annual Pilgrimage and Youth Sojourn; a diocesan-wide prayer ministry for the spiritual needs of our youth and their parents; the various methods of distribution of the youth newsletter, Daylight, which will be published bi-monthly beginning in January; and the possibility of starting an Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Rutgers University and other campus ministry initiatives.

Clergy in attendance for the meeting in addition to Metropolitan Nicholas and Fr. Andrew Fetchina included: the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Michael Rosco,Very Rev. Father Peter Paproski, the Rev. Fathers Michael  Chendorain and Matthew Moriak and The Rev. Fr. Andrew Bartek, Prefect of Discipline at Christ the Saviour Seminary and the Rev. Deacon Roman also of Christ the Saviour Seminary.
