Metropolitan Nicholas To Speak On The Come Receive the Light Orthodox Christian Radio Program Holy Saturday April 26, 2003
April 1, 2003
JOHNSTOWN, PA. A segment of the weekly Orthodox Christian radio program Come
Receive the Light was recorded at the Diocesan Chancery yesterday. His
Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas, was invited to participate in the Paschal
Program by Father Christopher Metropulos, Pastor of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox
Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the founder and editor of the radio
program. His Eminence will be joined on the program by His Eminence, Archbishop
Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Metropolitan Herman
of the Orthodox Church in America.
Come Receive The Light" was
born from one South Florida church's desire to bring the Greek Orthodox faith to
the homebound and to supplement the weekly worship of the faithful. But in just
seven years, it has become so much more: a weekly ministry that brings its
listeners "food for the soul." Along the way, the program has exploded in
popularity - and listeners. Starting December. 04, 1996, a modest program that
began as a parish ministry now sends its signal to Orthodox Christians of all
nationalities across the Southeastern U.S. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based radio
show is now the farthest reaching program of its kind in the United States,
offering spiritual enlightenment to listeners tuning in and callers phoning in
as clergymen and lay theologians discuss contemporary, moral and religious
issues that touch our everyday lives. "This is truly a unique show. No one else
in the country has a show with such a wide reach. It has been truly blessed by
God with an incredible staff of volunteers." said Father Christopher Metropulos,
the program's founder.
Be sure to tune in to this
uplifting and spiritual program as we bring you Pascha Greetings from our
Hierarchs as we prepare for the Glorious Resurrection and the receiving of the
Light of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ singing "Come ye, take light from the
Light that is never overtaken by night. Come, glorify the Christ, risen from the
dead."
