JOHNSTOWN, PA -- The Diocesan Chancery has been informed that George Smisko, the brother of the late +Metropolitan Nicholas, reposed in the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

George, a parishioner of St. John The Baptist Orthodox Church of Perth Amboy, NJ, was an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, a trustee of St. John The Baptist Church, a member of St. John's Social club and a volunteer at the parish Soup Kitchen and Pirogi Sales.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents Andrew and Anna and is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years Rose Marie; beloved father of Rose Ann Smisko; loving brother of Michael and his wife Mary Ann Smisko, his brother-in-law- Peter Jr. and his wife Lorraine Fenenic Read more...

CAMP NAZARETH, [Mercer, PA] -- The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh and the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese are pleased to announce a co-sponsored retreat for College Students and Young Adults ages 18-35 entitled “Navigating Life Using Your Spiritual Compass”. The Retreat will be held at Camp Nazareth Retreat and Conference Center in Mercer, PA from March 17-19, 2017 and will feature keynote addresses by Very Rev. Dr. Edward Pehanich and Mr. Nick Lionas. Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) Board Of Directors Announces Expansion Or Its Board, Continued Growth Of Its Ministry To College Students, and National Search For Executive Director

BROOKLINE, MA — Following its annual meeting, the Board of Directors of Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) has announced that it will begin its search for an Executive Director. The process for identifying and screening potential candidates is projected to begin in early February 2017, and details regarding the process and its progress will be made available through OCF’s website (www.ocf.net).

OCF is an agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States and serves as the official campus ministry for the twelve (12) Orthodox Christian jurisdictions that the Assembly represents. Its mission is to transform the lives of college students in the United States and Canada by guiding them along the path to Jesus Christ through His Church, cultivating a campus community of worship, witness, service, fellowship, and education.

WASHINGTON, DC --- On Friday, January, 27, 2016 Orthodox Christians from across the USA will be among those gathering in the Nation's Capital to participate in the The 43rd Annual March For Life which marks the 44th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States [Due to the Presidential inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump, this year’s March is being held one week later than usual] The theme of this year’s March is “The Power of One.”

Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On this glorious Feast of the Nativity of Christ we celebrate a truly a wondrous event in which God, in His infinite and marvelous grace, became man bringing us enduring hope, newness of life, and eternal salvation. The Son of God, the Lord of Glory and King of kings who upholds the universe by His word of power, became man so that we human beings might be redeemed, renewed, united with Him, and become fellow citizens with the Saints and members of God’s kingdom.

The magnitude and depth of the event of the Nativity of Christ are impossible to grasp, but the message is clear and true. It is a message of grace, hope, and salvation to all humanity and to all the created order. Read more...

JOHNSTOWN, PA - The Diocesan Chancery has been informed that Pani Martha Zeleniak, the widow of Very Rev. Protopresbyter John Zeleniak, reposed in the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2016.

Pani Martha was born Dec. 10, 1923, to the late John and Martha Bodrucki in Elizabeth, N.J. She was married for 57 years to the late Protopresbyter John Zeleniak, who died in 1999. Together they served parishes in Ambridge and Nesquehoning, before accepting the pastorship at St. George's Orthodox Church in Taylor in 1952. They served Taylor and the greater Scranton community for over 40 years.She was a beloved and respected member of the St. George's Orthodox Church community. Throughout her 74 years of service, she was recognized as the longest-serving pani (priest's wife) in the American Carpatho Russian Orthodox Diocese. Read more...
