The 20th Diocesan Sobor of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the U.S.A. took place from July 9-12, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Old Greenwich, CT. Hosted by the parishes of the New England Deanery, the clergy and faithful of the Diocese enjoyed three days of prayer, deliberations and fellowship. Diocesan Archon John Halecky, Jr. National Archon Secretary and a member of our diocesan St. Nicholas parish in Elizabeth, NJ. introduced Dr. Anthony Limberakis, MD, the national commander of the Archons to the delegates, guests and diocesan archons.
Tuesday Morning's Liturgy was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, and con-celebrated by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Lawrence Barriger, Vice Chancellor and the diocesan deans.
His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas along with Dr. Limberakis field questions from those in attendance.
Following Dr. Limberakis' presentation a reception in his honor was hosted by the Archons. Pictured is Dr. Limberakis and John Halecky with some of the members of the Archon's Executive Board.
After the Archon reception, His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas and the diocesan faithful were delighted to welcome, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and His Grace, Bishop Basil Losten, retired Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford.
During Tuesday's general session, Very Rev. Fr. Jonathan Tobias, the director of the Diocesan Apostolate For Youth gave a presentation about the goals of the new Diocesan Youth Ministry and the upcoming Youth Sojourn.
