Bishop Gregory Visits Epiphany Of Our Lord Orthodox Church in Huntingdon, PA

By Andrew Mishock (story and photos)

On September 24, 2017, the Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost, Bishop Gregory visited the Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church in Huntingdon, PA and celebrated Divine Liturgy with a large gathering of parishioners. In addition to Bishop Gregory, participants included Fr. Thomas Klein, Deacon Emil Gulick, Deacon Evans Prieston, and Kent William East who was ordained a reader before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy.

Bishop Gregory gave a wonderful Homily on ways we can find “love” in our lives and that when we do we will find that we will have an overabundance of which we can share with others. Even though we may think we don’t have much we can always do more such as ridding our lives of clutter (books, clothing, etc) and donating it to those in need such as the recent hurricane victims in our land.

Bishop Gregory also replaced the Antimension at Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church and at the end of the Divine Liturgy gave a very interesting lecture on the important role of this rectangular cloth which contains a relic of a saint or martyr and without it the Eucharist cannot be performed.

After Divine Liturgy a luncheon was held at the nearby Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church where Theresa Shirokey, who was instrumental in establishing Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church at its current location, presented Bishop Gregory with a bouquet of red roses.
