2014 Altar Boy Retreat - Tuesday, July 1, 2014

On Tuesday, July 1, the second full day of the Retreat, the Altar Boys were joined by the young women's retreat participants at Divine Liturgy at Christ the Saviour Cathedral.

The young men spent the remainder of the morning and early afternoon listening to inspiring lectures and competing for the championship of the Carpatho-Russian Ninja competition.

After enjoying a delicious spaghetti supper at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Homestead, PA the young men, joined by Bishop Gregory, attended a Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Game.

Fr. Michael Macura gave an inspiring talk after breakfast on the Prophet David.
Father Michael spoke about the extraordinary courage of The Prophet David as he fought against physical and spiritual enemies.
After breakfast, Bishop Gregory met with the Young Women's retreat participants.
Bishop Gregory spoke about the crucial role women play in the Church.
Bishop Gregory explained how all women are "little moms" in the church; protectors of faith. Although they cannot be priests, they all share in a priestly vocation by taking care of everything in the church.
After Lunch, Fr. Jonathan Bannon gave short presentation on the Prophet Samuel who at a very young age was an instrument of God.

The altar boys were guests of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Homestead for Dinner.
After supper, the altar boys traveled to PNC park to watch a Pittsburgh Pirates Game.
"A sea of yellow..." The altar boys took up a large section of the stadium.
The young men enjoyed an exciting game in which the Pirates in the bottom of the ninth inning came from behind to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks.
