Holy Transfiguration Consecration Part 2

Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Mission in Crawfordsville, Indiana celebrated the consecration of their newly constructed church on the weekend of November 6-7, 2010 which was presided over by His Grace, Bishop Daniel of the Western Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA , on behalf of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas.

The festivities began with the celebration of Great Vespers and Litya on Saturday Evening, which was followed by a Fellowship meal in the parish hall. Sunday Morning began with the celebration of the Consecration of the Church which was followed by Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and a celebratory banquet.

The Service of Consecration of the New Temple took place prior to the start of Divine Liturgy
His Grace Bishop Daniel was joined by clergy and altar servers in performing the consecration of Holy Transfiguration church.

It was a cold November morning, but the sky was clear and sun shone brightly as parishioners prayed outside the church during the consecration service.

These bells, which were donated by Dorothy Kalinowski, have now found a permanent home. Christopher Coyne joyfully rings them during the procession around the church.
Fr. Alexis opens the door to receive His Grace Bishop Daniel and the holy relics -- as well as the rest of the parishioners present to celebrate the consecration.

During the consecration service, the unvested altar table is washed thoroughly, and then anointed with holy chrism
After the holy relics are embedded into the altar, the table is covered in a new white cloth -- like in a baptism. Then the decorative cloth and the rest of the appointments are placed on top.
His Grace Bishop Daniel anointed the four walls of the church with holy chrism in the sign of the cross.
He also anointed all of the permanent icons
Fr. Alexis followed behind Bishop Daniel and sprinkled the walls and the icons with Holy Water -- including the Pantocrator on the ceiling.
