2008 National ACRY Convention (Aug 29-Sept 1, 2008)

Metropolitan Nicholas spoke with the Junior ACRY members Sunday afternoon, congratulating them on reaching the milestone of their 25th Anniversary and commending them for their philanthropic work on behalf of St. John the Compassionate Mission.
His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas preached the homily about the missionary labors of the Holy Apostle Paul.

Very Rev. Fr. Luke Mihaly, Dean of the New England Deanery, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center, spoke about the missionary work that is being accomplished by OCMC. He also spoke about a mission trip he organized to St. Nicholas Orphanage in Medzilaborce, Slovakia.
Reader Jonathan Bannon of St. John's Parish in Bridgeport, CT spoke about his recent trip to Greece which was made organized by the Orthodox Christian Fellowship Real Break Program.
Following lunch, the delegates enjoyed an interesting workshop on outreach and evangelism. Very Rev. Protopresbyter Michael Rosco was the first of three presenters. He gave a power-point presentation about the New Jersey Deanery's outreach work in New Orleans with the IOCC and Habitat for Humanity.
President Katherine Steinstra called the 25th National Junior ACRY convention to order.

Johannah Rogers of the Host Chapter welcomed the delegates and guests at the beginning of the first business session on Saturday morning.
The convention began with the celebration of Divine Liturgy Saturday Morning in the ballroom of the Hampton Inn of Woodbridge, NJ.
