The Annual Diocesan Readers, Sub-deacons & Deacon's Retreat takes each year the third weekend in December at Christ the Savior Seminary and Cathedral in Johnstown PA. Instituted by His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas, the annual encounter affords our Diocesan Readers, Sub-deacons and Deacons the opportunity to gather together to reflect upon their vocations in the Church. A highlight of this year's retreat was the Ordination to the Holy Diaconate of Subdeacon Robert Hubiak of Holy Trinity Parish in Danbury, Connecticut, the tonsure as Readers and Ordination to the Sub-Diaconate of Seminarian Michael Ellis and Richard Howrilka (St Gregory of Nyssa Parish, Seaford, NY) and the ordination to the Sub-Diaconate of Readers Matthew Moriak and Edward Brisbine (St. Nicholas Church, Warren Ohio).
This year's retreatmaster was the Rev. Fr. Peter Paproski, Pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish, Stratford, CT (Broadbridge Avenue) and Father Confessor for the retreatants was Very Rev. Fr. David Moriak, Pastor of St. Michael's Church in St. Clair, PA.
