With the deadline for ads, patrons and boosters, plus meal package selections and other information fast approaching - materials should be postmarked by Monday July 28 - chapters are encouraged to return their information as soon as possible. These short articles are provided to assist the parishes and faithful of the Diocese to increase both a personal and Church-wide understanding of the principles of Christian Stewardship, and how to integrate them on the personal, parish and Diocesan levels. Double Ordination To Take Place at Camp Nazareth

JOHNSTOWN, PA -- [Diocesan Chancery] - For the first time in the history of the Summer Camping Sessions at Camp Nazareth, our Diocesan youth will be blessed to witness the ordination of two young men tomorrow, July 18, 2014 at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Sts Cyril and Methodios Church. During the Liturgy, Seminary Graduate Matthew Dutko, of St. Michael's Church in Binghamton, NY will be ordained to the orders of Reader, Sub-deacon and Deacon and Deacon Joseph Birthisel, of Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood. Registration Now Open For ACRY Convention/Get-Away Weekend

NATIONAL ACRY -- The Phoenixville, PA ACRY Chapter is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2014 ACRY Convention/Get-Away-Weekend which will take place on Labor Day Weekend, August 29-September 2014 in King of Prussia, PA. The chapter has been working hard to provide a great Convention this year. ACRY members and all members of the Diocese are welcome to take part. The City of Philadelphia, with its many attractions such as the Philadelphia Art Museum, Philadelphia Zoo (America’s 1st zoo!), Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, is a 30 minute drive from the hotel. In the Ninth Article of the Nicea-Constantinople Symbol of Faith proclaimed by the holy Fathers of the First and Second Ecumenical Councils, we confess our faith in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. By virtue of the catholic nature of the Church, an Ecumenical Council is the Church's supreme authority, and possesses the competence to resolve major questions of church life. An Ecumenical Council is comprised of archpastors and pastors of the Church, and representatives of all the local Churches, from every land of the oikumene (i.e. from all the whole inhabited world). “Honor the LORD with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10 RSV) Out of His great loving kindness for humanity, our Lord and God, following the Fall of humankind, did not just remove us from the Garden and let us walk about in life on our own. Rather, God’s plan was to enlist us as His co-workers. God could have reached His object of returning sinners to the state in which they were created without our human help. Rather, He gave to each of us a part in that great work. God has given to each human being the means to become the persons we were created to be. He constantly gives us the opportunities, for example, of serving the poor and needy or of speaking out to advance the Kingdom of God in this world. Read more...
