Condolences From:
The Holy Synod of the
Orthodox Church In America
It was with profound sadness that we learned of the blessed repose
of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas, Ruling Hierarch of the American
Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. In our sadness we are greatly
comforted that Metropolitan Nicholas, in life and in death, has been a
witness to the love of our Lord Jesus Christ and to Christ’s Holy
Resurrection.
The falling asleep of His Eminence is a great loss to the People of
God of the Carpatho-Russian Diocese, whom he served with great zeal and
devotion. His leadership and joyful service to our Lord were a source of
continual blessings, especially for the clergy and faithful under his
care, but also to all Orthodox Christians, and indeed to the people of
our society. He was a teacher of righteousness, a model of piety, and an
example of apostolic service.
The Holy Synod, clergy and faithful of the Orthodox Church in
America join me in offering our condolences and assuring all the clergy,
monastics and faithful of the Carpatho-Russian Diocese of our prayers
for the repose of the soul of Metropolitan Nicholas. With Metropolitan
Nicholas we take refuge in the hope of the Resurrection.
We are confident that the Risen Lord has embraced His servant with
love, and that our brother Metropolitan Nicholas, who in his ministry
multiplied the talents the Lord had given him, has entered into the joy
of His Master.
